State Sponsored Life Insurance (SSLI) is a program that provides group term life insurance exclusively for National Guard members and their dependents. The program is derived from United States Public Law 93-289, May 24, 1974, to encourage persons to join and remain in the National Guard. It is available in all fifty states and territories.
It is the only program, by law, that can be paid through an allotment from a National Guard member’s Military Pay.
While the Louisiana National Guard has had this program for many years, it was not until recently that the Officer and Enlisted Associations were able to begin briefing the program, and as a supplemental offering, we are making the application available online.
This policy has many benefits beyond what is available to Louisiana Guard members through SGLI. Namely:
This policy pays within 24 hours of being notified of the loss.
Benefits remain the same and monthly costs do not change when you retire or separate from the National Guard.
No war, aviation, or terrorism clauses.
You are protected 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and on or off duty.
No Hazardous Duty or Civilian Occupation Restriction.
Louisiana Guard members can complete the application in just 5 minutes!
